Founder of Santa Fe Greenhouses, High Country Gardens and Waterwise Gardening, David Salman was an expert in the field of waterwise gardening and xeriscaping. He was a distinguished recipient of the 2008 American Horticultural Society Great American Gardeners Award. For decades, he encouraged environmentally conscious gardening practices, long before “organic” became a household word. He was also an enthusiastic, highly sought-after speaker on these subjects. The Aimee Song Etsy Collab Is a Home Decor Lover’s Dream Come True

Here’s something we didn’t know: Street-style darling Aimee Song launched her blog, Song of Style, back in 2008 as a place to share home design ideas and inspiration while she was studying interior architecture in San Francisco. It only developed into the wildly popular fashion destination it is today after followers caught glimpses of her outfits in photos where she was reflected in her mirror and asked for more. She began sharing more fashion content on her platform; it resonated. The rest, as they say, is history. Now 35, Song boasts more than 6.6 million followers on IG.

Since her blog blew up more than a decade ago, Song has been steadily expanding into design projects, including a jewellery line and clothing collection. Now, she’s revisiting her casual yet decidedly stylish Californian roots and applying the aesthetic to her latest project: a home edit of decor, nursery and lifestyle pieces

Jimmy Fallon, Cara Delevingne’s Tonight Show Home-Decor Chat

Photo: Architectural Digest/YouTube

Instead of converting it into a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cara Delevingne has chosen to live in the $10.8 million questionably decorated Gramercy Park triplex she bought from Jimmy Fallon. As she told Fallon on The Tonight Show this week, she loves the decor — basically the Overlook Hotel in The Shining with a maximalist color palette. “I’ve kept it all. It’s creepy,” she said. “I tried to design my house in L.A. basically like that without knowing that house.”

Delevingne is telling the truth! She has described her L.A. home — an English-country-style mansion built in 1941 for the founders of the Vons supermarket chain — as an “adult playhouse” and it lives up to the reputation: There’s a costume dress-up room, a Lynchian poker room, and, naturally, a ball pit. She cites escape rooms and Hugh Hefner as influences, both of which

Fragrant plants create a new dimension for your garden

By Lynette L. Walther

Fragrance has the ability to transport us to another time, another place, and — when employed in the garden — it can create magic. Many of our emotions and memories are closely linked, due to the brain’s anatomy. Adding deliciously fragrant plants to any landscape can present an entirely new dimension to our garden design.

Oftentimes choosing plants based on color scheme or texture is at the forefront when plant shopping, selecting and planting. But concentrating on scent is where we are headed today.

According to the National Garden Bureau, when selecting plants for a garden, spectacularly scented shrubs, perennials, bulbs, annuals and – of course – herbs are great choices to bring fragrance into the landscape.

Home renovations can add functionality, comfort and value to your home. Of course, home renovations can also be costly, and if you want to get the best return on your investment, there are some key factors to consider.

We talked to David Steckel, a home expert at Thumbtack, about what projects homeowners should prioritize and the best way to get the work done efficiently and on budget. Keep reading for 10 things Steckel says every homeowner should consider before starting any home renovation project.

1. Updating Key Areas Doesn’t Have To Blow Your Budget

Homeowners know that updating bathrooms and kitchens is a good investment because not only are the spaces more comfortable, but these rooms — when updated thoughtfully — can help sell a home. But what if you’re on a budget? Steckel says these

Oceanside ‘cruise ship journalist’ finds a home for ‘Love Boat’ television show deck and furniture

Peter Knego says being a cruise ship journalist isn’t always smooth sailing.

OCEANSIDE, Calif. — Before you grow up and become a cruise ship journalist, you might want to check the fine print and paycheck. In this Zevely Zone, I cruised to Oceanside where it was anchors away.

Peter Knego is a cruise ship journalist. “I take a cruise and then I’ll write about it,” said Peter. The cruises are free for Peter who averages about ten voyages a year. How many cruises has he taken? “Oh, about 300, a little more, I lost count a long time ago,” said Peter.

Talk about bringing your work home with you; I interviewed Peter at a bar inside his home that came from a ship. The stools we were sitting on also came for a ship. Peter’s home is filled with ship parts, furniture and artwork. “Everything except the drywall and I

Toronto Blue Jays announce $230 million stadium renovation plan

TORONTO — The Blue Jays announced plans Thursday for a $230 million renovation of Rogers Centre, their downtown home since 1989 but said the change will not involve replacing the artificial turf surface with grass.

The renovation, to be undertaken in stages over the next two or three winters, will begin with replacing all the seats in the upper deck, adding raised bullpens in left and right field, adjusting the dimensions and heights of the current outfield wall and adapting outfield seating areas to add bars and patios, as well as a section of bleachers.

“The largest focus was to focus on modernizing the fan experience,” Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro said.

Shapiro did not disclose the outfield dimensions and fence heights, saying they have not been finalized.

After the 2023 season, the team will remodel the lower bowl to create better sight lines and reduce the amount of foul

Houses & Homes: Pandemic is changing home decor trends: SICO | Houses Homes

After two years of working overtime, Canadian homes are emerging from the pandemic forever changed, craving a newfound style that combines soothing colour and durability, a recent press release said.

“On the other side of the pandemic, people are looking to infuse their homes with soothing colours that emit a sense of both protection and fresh air that they’ve been lacking,” said Martin Fuchs, Sico paint brand senior marketing manager, in the same release, noting that contemporary earth tones are trending across the country. These new hues are lighter, softer shades compared to pre-pandemic consumer colour preferences, he explained.

According to the Sico paint brands’ sales trends, consumers are moving away from cool, modern grey interiors and opting for subdued garden-fresh neutrals. Topping the list of best-selling paint colours are muted sage greens, breezy blues and earthy taupes.

“There’s a feeling of cautious optimism among consumers as we adapt back
